Flexitarian Meat or FlexMeat

Flexitarian Meat (FlexMeat) is a term that has been used for many years to describe meat products (burgers, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, hot dogs, etc.) that combine both some small amount of animal meat/fish with wholesome plant products to create more healthy and sustainable foods without compromising on taste.

In the food industry, these products have been referred to as “blended” or “hybrid” meats. This is very much in distinction to filler used by meat companies to try to lower the cost of their processed meat products. Flexitarian meats are high-quality meat products with healthy, quality ingredients to create a wholesome food experience for the flexitarian who wants to eat meat but less of it, without compromising on the tastes and textures they love.

All FlexMeat products are defined by their “flex number” which is the percentage of the product that is made of plant ingredients. A higher flex number is better (similar to MPG for a car) because it means more plant-products, and less of the negative things that come with all meat such as cholesterol, hormones, etc. or the significant environmental costs.
