Luiza Villela

Luiza is a food scientist who worked on plant-based product development for crumbles, ice cream, bacon, prosciutto and chicken. As a product developer for the Alternative Meat Lab, Eclipse Foods, Beyond Meat and Simulate Inc, Luiza has done benchtop and prototype work for almost every product under the sun. Native to Brazil, she saw first the devastating realities of meat-centric diets, but upon moving to Berkeley for school, Luiza found her true passion in food, specifically, food products that reduce our reliability on animals. At FSI, Luiza is making blended tuna, chicken and beef out of both animals and plant inputs with the goal of indistinguishability. Her dream is to see a world not so dependent on animals for food.
